Amazon's fashion business in Europe is proving popular as the e-tailer sells 60 million fashion items in the final quarter of 2016.

Amazon Fashion Europe sold over 60 million items in the last quarter of 2016, making it one of the e-tailer's fastest growing categories.

Amazon also added 350 new brands to its online offering over the last 12 months. New brands included: Miss Selfridge, House of Holland, Aldo, Thomas Sabo and many more, joining the likes of Boss Orange, Calvin Klein, French Connection and Levi's.

"Offering an expansive selection, using technology to innovate the shopping experience, and providing award-winning customer service are all part of our vision to be the fashion destination that brands and customers love," said Susan Saideman, VP of Amazon Fashion, Europe. "Fashion is one of Amazon’s fastest growing categories and we are still only a handful of years into a very long-term investment."

The e-tailer also announced its new face for Amazon Fashion Europe for Spring/Summer 2017 (SS17) as the Ethiopian model, actress and designer, Liya Kebede. She will feature in print advertising, social media, and onsite campaigns across Europe from March 2017.

Amazon, today, revealed its financial results for its fourth quarter ending 31 December 2016. Sales increased 22% to $43.7 billion, compared with $35.7 billion in fourth quarter 2015, while operating profit  increased 13% to $1.3 billion.

But the retailer lowered its profit guidance for the next 12 weeks, saying it will be investing further in its logistics operation and expanding its Prime Video service.
