Yoox Net-a-Porter commits to Hour of Code initiative.

Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP) has announced its involvement in the Hour of Code initiative to promote computer programming skills.

A number of technologists employed at the luxury online fashion retailer will visit schools in London and Bologna to lead coding classes, give talks and assist IT teachers between 4-10 December.

This is the second year YNAP has participated in the event, founded by Code.org, which involves tens of millions of studens in over 180 countries. The e-tailer is committed to increasing access to digital skills and in the last year it has helped educate over 1,400 students around the world.

YNAP is also a member of the European Commission’s Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, which was set up to train one million young people and prepare them for digital jobs by 2020.

“We are extremely pleased to be involved once again with Hour of Code, which highlights the importance of providing children with strong digital knowledge,” said Alex Alexander, CIO of YNAP. “As the job market becomes more digital and competitive by the day, it’s important that we provide the younger generations with the relevant skills they need.”
