Moonpig has announced the appointment of Peter Donlon as chief technology officer (CTO).
Donlon, who starts his new role in early December, will be responsible for bringing together the end-to-end technology infrastructure for Moonpig and spearheading web engineering, app development, production engineering and architecture.
Donlon spent five years at Sainsbury’s as head of development, where he led a team of 400 engineers to deliver a number of customer-facing apps, websites and back-office systems.
More recently, he was head of software engineering at smart home company, Glue Home. He has also been advising Mother Foods as non-executive chairman since the summer.
“Moonpig is right at the centre of a market that is moving with great momentum, with a position that gives it huge potential. I am thrilled to be joining this talented team,” said Donlon.
James Sturrock, MD of Moonpig, added: “Technology is at the very heart of our offering and we are always looking for new ways to help customers celebrate those special moments. Peter’s experience and outlook will help us move forward at pace, delivering innovation and enhancing our services.”
Earlier this week, Moonpig parent company, Photobox, announced a 10-year lease for its new HQ in London’s Clerkenwell. The Photobox Group will move into the 37,000 sq ft Herbal House building (former Daily Mirror Printworks) in spring 2018.
