Luxury department store chain Harvey Nichols has upgraded its supply chain technology as it looks to improve stock availability across all of its channels.

Harvey Nichols has moved its supply chain technology on to a cloud-based infrastructure as it looks to improve reliability across its business channels.

The luxury department store chain aims to enhance stock availability across its stores and digital platforms by upgrading to the latest version of tech company Retail Assist's Merret solution.

Investment in the new tech is also expected to fully support the relaunch of its website, ensuring staff have a more transparent view of stock levels throughout the organisation.

Harvey Nichols operates eight stores in the UK & Ireland, including its Beauty Bazaar in Liverpool

Fatima Zada, director of technology & innovation at Harvey Nichols, said: "The Merret upgrade provides much more in terms of scalability, as our international growth trajectory and eCommerce offer goes from strength to strength.

"Retail Assist facilitated our journey into omnichannel over ten years ago, and the recent project has created a solid foundation for our growth vision going forward."

Harvey Nichols has also invested in Retail Assist's smart tablet technology, with the Merret Tablet Inventory product reportedly helping facilitate order fulfilment in-store via the most cost effective channel.

Retail Assist's App Academy, an online training and user support portal, has also been made available to Harvey Nichols staff, giving them advice on best practices in modern retailing and how to use the new technology.

These latest developments come 12 years after Harvey Nichols first started working with Retail Assist. The partnership between the two companies also includes data centre operations and application support.

Harvey Nichols continues to extend the services it offers consumers, having opened its new beauty lounge in Knightsbridge London at the end of July. The facility serves customers between 8am and 10pm every weekday, offering a range of blow-drys, facials and massages.
