Pyramid Computer GmbH has acquired Media 5 Solutions Ltd to create a base in the UK.
German kiosk designer, Pyramid, already provides its Polytouch units to Marks & Spencer and Sofology, but it hopes the acquisition of a British company will give it a ready-made UK customer base.
The deal, which was completed in April, will help Pyramid develop its kiosk business for retail and hospitality in the UK and Ireland.
Frieder Hansen, co-founder and MD of Pyramid Computer, said: "We have considered starting up in the UK for some time and the opportunity to work with Media 5 customers and [it] seemed the perfect chance to put our plans into operation. We believe there are great opportunities for our products in the UK and despite Brexit we are confident the UK will be a buoyant market for our products."
Media 5 Solutions Ltd used to be the driving force behind the development of Retec Digital, which deployed kiosks into Tesco, Argos, Sainsbury's, Fujifilm and other UK retailers.
Graeme Derby, Media 5 MD, said: "I have felt for some time that Media 5 needed greater scale to fully develop in the UK marketplace. The chance to work with Pyramid offers both the necessary scale and resources. I think the Pyramid product range is very exciting and has much to offer UK customers. I look forward to telling our customers about Pyramid and its plans for the UK.
Pyramid will be exhibiting at RBTE, stand #714, on 8 & 9 May.
