Argos has opened a new concept store at Centre:mk shopping centre, allowing shoppers to order goods from local stores for collection within an hour.

General merchandise retailer Argos has opened a new concept pop-up at Centre:mk in Milton Keynes, allowing consumers to order goods to the shopping centre for collection within an hour.

At 400 sq ft in size, the new shop features digital elements such as iPads, which can be used to order Argos items to the centre, to home or to an alternative delivery destination using a Fast Track service.

The pop-up will be in place until 15 January 2017, covering the whole of the busy festive period.

Steve Carson, director of retail & customer operations at Argos, said: "Due to its catchment and location, Centre:mk is the ideal destination to facilitate hourly drop-offs of products from our Milton Keynes stores as well as our online collection point functionality.

"This pioneering concept will enable us to be even more convenient, helping to put a smile on the faces of our customers in the run up to Christmas."

Argos's fulfilment capability and digital reputation played a key part in Sainsbury's decision to acquire its parent company, Home Retail Group. Plans are already in place to utilise the vast store network to develop a significant click & collect network across the UK.
