A new loyalty app has launched, claiming to help retailers identify and understand individual spending habits, through a linked payment card within the app.
The Bink loyalty app is launching in the UK with brands including Avios, Virgin Atlantic and HMV. The app, which is due to launch in the autumn, accumulates existing loyalty schemes, meaning customers do not need to carry numerous cards with them to present at the point of sale. Shoppers also do not need to show the Bink app at the point of sale, only the card they wish to pay with.
Customers will need to link a payment card or mobile wallet to the app, and when they use that payment card, points will be automatically added to the relevant loyalty scheme – without having to show a branded loyalty card.
Paul Miller, director of digital and innovation at Avios, said: "Without asking our customers to make any changes to how and where they spend their money, using Bink will make it possible for them to gather the points they might otherwise miss out on and be able to enjoy their rewards faster."
The Bink app claims to make it easier for retailers and brands to engage with customers, and the app will also encourage customers to sign up to loyalty schemes if they shop in a store they are not yet affiliated with.
CEO of Bink, Lee Clarke, added: "Bink bridges the gap between retailers and consumers. For too long there’s been a lack of understanding between the two, which is where the friction lies. Bink offers a simple solution by making it possible for partner retailers to ID all shoppers and then engage them with highly relevant and bespoke offers - subsequently increasing customer visitations and transactions, whilst importantly, adding value to the shopper’s experience."
